Arsenal-linked Sverre Nypan is reportedly close to joining Manchester City this summer.

The 18-year-old wonderkid was heavily linked with a January move to several top clubs, including Arsenal.

In the end, Nypan decided to remain at Norwegian side Rosenborg until the summer before making a final decision on his future.

Now, it looks like another European giant has won the race for his signature.

Transfer insider David Ornstein of The Athletic reports that Manchester City are closing in on an agreement for Rosenborg's super talent Sverre Nypan.

Pep Guardiola's side were not among the suitors in the race to sign the Norwegian midfielder back in January, but they are now believed to have entered the conversation, with a deal thought to be close.

Manchester City have reportedly convinced both the player and his family about a summer move to the Etihad Stadium, and the expectation is that Nypan will be sent out on loan next season before being integrated into the City squad.

This news comes as a major blow to Arsenal, who had been seriously pursuing a deal for Nypan. But now, it looks like they will miss out on the midfielder.
