BREAKING: Arsenal drop out of race to sign Newcastle’s Alexander Isak — other targets now being considered

Arsenal have reportedly dropped out of the race to sign Newcastle striker Alexander Isak.
 

The Gunners' interest in the 25-year-old has been well-documented, with several reports in recent months suggesting that Isak was Arsenal's top target for the upcoming summer transfer window.

However, his fellow Swedish international, Viktor Gyökeres, has been heavily linked with a move to North London this week.

It now appears that the Sporting Lisbon striker has become Arsenal's priority attacking target, with a potential deal for Isak looking increasingly difficult to complete.

According to Lee Ryder, Chief Newcastle United Writer at The Chronicle, Arsenal have withdrawn from the race for Isak's signature.

Ryder reports that the Gunners have shifted their focus to other striker options, including Sporting CP goalscorer Gyökeres.

Contract talks between Newcastle and Isak's representatives are expected to take place in the near future, with the Magpies confident the Swede will stay at the club and commit his long-term future to St. James' Park.
