BREAKING: Arsenal make initial approach to sign Belgian full-back — player seen as ideal fit for Arteta’s system

Arsenal have reportedly stepped up their pursuit of Club Brugge full-back Maxim De Cuyper ahead of the summer transfer window.
 

The 24-year-old is widely expected to leave the Belgian side this summer, with multiple clubs across Europe interested in a potential deal.

According to FootballTransfers, Arsenal have now entered the race for De Cuyper's signature and are believed to have made an initial approach to sign the Belgian international.

Gunners boss Mikel Arteta is keen to strengthen at left-back this summer, with Kieran Tierney set to return to Celtic and Oleksandr Zinchenko's future currently uncertain.

Arsenal are understood to view De Cuyper as an ideal fit for Arteta's tactical philosophy.

The Belgian defender has enjoyed a strong campaign with Club Brugge, scoring four goals and providing seven assists in all competitions.

De Cuyper is under contract at Brugge until the summer of 2028.
