Nico Williams is reportedly in talks over extending his Athletic Bilbao contract amid interest from Arsenal and Chelsea.
 

The 22-year-old forward has been widely reported as Arsenal's top target to strengthen the left-wing position this summer.

Chelsea and Barcelona have also been mentioned as possible destinations.

However, a major twist has emerged regarding the Spain international's future.

According to an exclusive report by transfer insider Ben Jacobs, Nico Williams is now in discussions over a new contract to remain at his boyhood club, Athletic Bilbao.

All parties involved are believed to be holding talks over an improved salary of around €10m, with the release clause potentially increasing—although nothing is set in stone yet.

Williams currently has a release clause worth €58m and remains on both Arsenal's and Chelsea's list of summer targets.

However, the main obstacle to any potential transfer is the overall financial package, including the player's wages and agent fees, which currently makes a deal too expensive.
