Exclusive report from Italy: Arsenal make initial approach for red-hot striker — Bayern Munich also in contact

Arsenal have approached the representatives of Lille striker Jonathan David ahead of a potential free transfer this summer, according to a report from Italy.
 

The 25-year-old's contract with the French side expires at the end of the season, and several top European clubs are reportedly interested in signing him when the transfer window opens.

According to an exclusive report from SempreInter.com, both Arsenal and Bayern Munich have made contact with David's entourage.

Both clubs are said to have intensified their pursuit of the Canada international. While neither Arsenal nor Bayern Munich have submitted a formal contract offer, they have made initial approaches to assess the financial aspects of a potential deal.

Inter Milan, Juventus, Barcelona, and West Ham are also among the clubs linked with a move for David this summer.

However, SempreInter.com reports that the striker's wage demands, along with his agent's commission, have led Inter to pull out of the race.

Among English clubs, Arsenal are believed to be leading the race for David's signature.
