Arsenal have reportedly reached an agreement to sign Club Brugge centre-back Joel Ordonez this summer.

The Gunners had been among the clubs in the race for Bournemouth's Dean Huijsen ahead of the upcoming transfer window.

However, it now appears they will miss out on the 19-year-old, with multiple reports suggesting Huijsen is set for a summer move to Real Madrid.

As a result, Arsenal are believed to have shifted their attention to other defensive targets, and a report from Ecuador claims Mikel Arteta's side have agreed personal terms with another centre-back.

According to El Diario, Club Brugge defender Joel Ordonez has reached a verbal agreement to join Arsenal this summer.

The 21-year-old Ecuador international has established himself as one of Europe's most exciting young centre-backs, and a summer move now seems likely.

While Ordonez is believed to have agreed personal terms with the Gunners, no deal has been struck between the two clubs, meaning the transfer is still far from complete.

The same outlet also reports that PSG and Chelsea remain in the race to secure the player's signature.

Club Brugge are understood to be demanding a fee in the region of €45–50m for Ordonez.
