Arsenal were reportedly working hard on a deal to sign River Plate sensation Franco Mastantuono before the 17-year-old ultimately decided to join Real Madrid.

Regarded as one of the best young talents in the world, Mastantuono's future has been the subject of intense speculation in recent months.

Multiple elite clubs across Europe have been linked with the teenager this summer.

Recent reports suggest Mastantuono has agreed a deal to join Real Madrid and is expected to arrive in the Spanish capital when he turns 18 in August.

However, several top Premier League clubs reportedly tried to sign the highly rated youngster before he made his final decision to join Los Blancos.

According to TBR Football, Arsenal were among the clubs pushing hard to sign the River Plate attacker this summer.

Manchester United, Liverpool, Chelsea, Newcastle, and Tottenham were also pursuing a deal.

In the end, Mastantuono made his final choice and is now set to join Real Madrid during the summer transfer window.
