Viktor Gyökeres has reportedly informed the Sporting CP president of his desire to leave the club this summer, with a move to Arsenal his top priority.

The 27-year-old is widely expected to leave the Portuguese champions, with Arsenal emerging as the leading candidate for his signature.

Recent reports suggest that Gyökeres is extremely disappointed with how Sporting have handled his situation, as it is believed there was a verbal agreement allowing him to leave for a fixed fee.

Now, a fresh update on the Sweden international's future has emerged.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reports that Gyökeres has personally called Sporting president Frederico Varandas to express his wish to leave the club this summer.

Gyökeres is said to be heartbroken and has no intention of playing for the Portuguese side again.

The Swede is desperate to begin a new chapter elsewhere and is not expected to report for pre-season training.
