UPDATE: Sporting and Arsenal hope to complete Viktor Gyökeres deal before FRIDAY — negotiations ongoing with optimism a deal will be reached soon

Sporting CP and Arsenal are hoping to agree a deal for Viktor Gyökeres before the end of this week.
Negotiations are ongoing between the two clubs over a potential summer transfer for the 27-year-old striker.
An agreement has yet to be reached, but talks are said to be heading in the right direction, with growing optimism that a deal can be completed.
Now, Simon Collings of The Standard reports that Sporting and Arsenal hope to finalise an agreement for Gyökeres before the end of the week.
The Portuguese giants are set to begin pre-season training on Friday, and all parties are aiming to complete a deal for the Sweden international before then.
Arsenal are understood to have submitted an initial offer worth €65m plus €15m in bonuses, but that proposal has not been accepted.
Reports in Portugal suggest that Sporting are holding out for around €70m upfront, plus €10m in bonuses — taking the total package to €80m.
Gyökeres has already agreed a five-year contract with Arsenal ahead of a potential move.
